I was using my old telescope, a Vixen AC 80/1200, to take some photos of the Moon (closeups) and also Jupiter. Well, actually I took videos and used the free tool “Registax” to extract single frames and combine them into one stacked image (150 out of 2000 frames). The result is quite something (for a first try). When you look at the Jupiter Video, there is not much detail to be recognized on our largest planet in the solar system. But when you look at the stacked image, you can already see lots of detail. I look forward to trying this again with the ASI astrocamera that I ordered…
The Moon photos turned out quite well, too. This video was taken at ISO 12800! No noise left to be seen in the final result.
