The weather has not been nice to me since my last post. A bit of astro photography every now and then, but mostly it was clouded. Most sessions were cut short due to clouds moving in or the moon rising.
The latest addition to my astrophotography gear is a 12nm H-alpha clip-in filter by Astronomik. One gets really good results when capturing hydrogen rich areas in the sky. Combining those images with RGB data really improves the quality of the overall image (see the Heart Nebula Image). Also did a bit of Flaming Star, Rosette, Horse-Head and Great Orion Nebula. I was just not able to collect enough data for a really good noise free picture…
Oh, there was a comet as well. I was able to get 5(!) lightframes on Wirtanen 46p. Better than nothing. Lunar eclipse? No good here… loads of clouds. The past week was the first time I was able to do some photography for more than one day in a row. XMas Tree Cluster is tougher to capture than I though. It really is a faint object. I am really pleased with my result on M106 and some of its neighbors…
